Oscars 2010 Highlights

Ay dios mio! It actually happened.

Meryl Streep wore another Chris March dress. I like the Oscar look better than the Golden Globes.

Favorite dresses: Maggie Gyllenhaal, Zoe Saldana, Helen Mirren, Carey Mulligan, Rachel McAdams, and Vera Farmiga. Most of the other dresses were okay, but not that interesting or memorable. Too many gold and neutral-colored dresses.

Lil Mama Be Poppin

Lil Mama keeps America's Best Dance Crew interesting with her sharp comments and outfits. You can argue that her critiques often lack focus and are repetitive, but that doesn't make them less true.
"When you feel like you're about to fall, you keep it moving."
Her outfits are always fun and sometimes surprising- she isn't afraid of bold colors and knows how to accessorize. While her signature look is the sparkled baseball cap, she keeps it exciting with a variety of other hats, hoods, and headbands.

Hubertus von Hohenlohe-Langenburg

Mexico had one athlete in the winter games: Hubertus von Hohenlohe-Langenburg, 51. He's a German prince. He placed 78th out of the 81 skiers who finished in the Giant Slalom (34 seconds behind the winning run). While the oldest athlete competing in Vancouver may not have won any medals, he's definitely one of the most entertaining competitors.

He designed his own outfit because he believes that most of the ski suits have no inspiration and are kind of boring. Agreed.

His approach to the Olympics:
"The main part was looking good," he said. "Having style. Don't look at the time, but have style and look good in the suit. I think I won for artistic impression. It's a pity we get no marks for that, like in figure skating."
I wish he was right about the figure skating part. If that was actually the case Johnny Weir would have won, no contest.

New ANTM Judge!

I might have to start watching America's Next Top Model, even though Tyra scares me so much. The new season (I hate that they call them cycles) starts March 10th and André Leon Talley is going to be the new judge.

I hope they coordinate all their outfits on the show.

If you haven't seen The September Issue yet, you need to watch it immediately. It'll all make sense when you see what he wears to play tennis. I can't wait to see his style on a regular basis.

Burberry Prorsum Fall 2010

154 years of fashion. The friends of Burberry were front row at the show.

Check out the video Burberry released. Don't miss Anna Wintour at 4:10. The actual show starts at 11:40.

Agatha Ruiz de la Prada Fall 2010

Don't think "Who would wear that?" That's not the point. It's supposed to fun, whimsical, and colorful.

It's fashion.

Full collection shown during 2010 Madrid Fashion Week.

BAFTAs

The BAFTAs were appropriately British this year. The best actor and actress awards went to Colin Firth for A Single Man and Carey Mulligan for An Education. I wish he'd win the Oscar too.

Kate Winslet (in Stella McCartney) and Colin Firth
They should totally do a movie together.

 Carey Mulligan in Vionnet
It's a lot of look, but like it. She was up for best actress and needed something that would make her stand out, which wasn't too hard to do this year with all the somber-looking dresses. Let's hope for more color and fun at the Oscars.

ABDC Nationals

Things are a bit different this season. The dynamics have changed without a b-boy crew in the mix. But some things will never change. Mario Lopez is as terrible of a host as ever.

I still have no idea what Omarion is going to contribute to the judging. I was completely distracted by what he was wearing and couldn't focus on anything he said. What was that sweater? Unfortunately I can't post a photo because MTV didn't put up pictures. But trust me, it was that bad.

Assuming he doesn't wear more ridiculous clothing next week, I'll be able to provide a more informed opinion. I'm skeptical though. He has some major style issues.

And I don't know how he could top Lil Mama's critique:
I respect what you do. That's why I watch so carefully.

You know what I respect?

Jungle Boogie. Loved their energy, styling, and choreography.
